Languages
  • First year: all instruction in English
  • Second year: lectures in German, tutorials in English
  • Examinations: in either language
  • Diplom thesis: in either language
  • Intensive course in German as a foreign language before the beginning of the first semester
  • German language training during the first year of the programme

Studies abroadThe third or fourth year is spent at a foreign partner university in Great Britain, Ireland, France or Turkey (recommended for German students)
Admission requirements
  • German university entrance qualifications (Abitur) or equivalent qualification;
  • proof of proficiency in German for non-native speakers applying from abroad (DSH-2, consult university web pages for precise requirements)
  • proof of proficiency in English both for German (e.g. via the Abitur) and international (e.g. TOEFL-test) students
