Programme

Modules of the International Course: An Overview

2.11.1. A: European Competences and Fundamentals of Intercultural Competence; Credits: 15 ECTS (450 hours workload); Three units: general European competences, competences with regard to social work, intercultural competences

2.11.1. B: European Placement in an Intercultural Context; Credits: 5 ECTS (150 hours workload); Placement in institutions of social work. International students shall do intercultural work assisted by Fulda students as native speakers.

2.11.1.C: Institutions of Social Work: Visits in order to Get to Know “Good Practice”; Credits: 2,5 ECTS (75 hours workload); After a period of preparatory work several institutions of social work will be visited and be questioned with regard to aspects of their “good practice”.

2.11.1.D: Project Work: Facilitating and Supporting Sustainable Development in Social Work; Credits: 2,5 ECTS (75 hours workload); Students shall do small scale research projects in co-operation with institutions of social work. Projects shall cover issues of ethnic minorities, social inequality, unemployment, gender etc., i.e. the most relevant categories of social work.
Furthermore, they shall support sustainable development in the respective institutions of social work

2.11.1.E: German as a Foreign Language; Credits: 5 Credits (150 hours workload); Supplementary module for students who would like to learn basic German

  • All modules will be credited, performance of students will be graded
  • Total of Credits: 30 ECTS (900 hours workload, 4 months)

Target Group International Students that should have completed their 1st year in a course BA of Social Work or a comparable course
Registration Deadline June 15, 2008
Cultural Programme

Study Trip to Berlin and Weimar (optional) in order to get more familiar with the cultural background of the host country

Costs
  • The course is cost free for exchange students from partner universities of the Hochschule Fulda
  • Fees for students from other universities: cost-free if based on a bilateral cooperation agreement. Other students: go to www.hs-fulda.de, go to “International”, go to “Tuition Fees”
  • Costs for accommodation approx. 250 € per month
  • Costs for a study trip to Berlin and Weimar (optional) approx. 270 €.

Hessen and British Council are the first "Academic Destinations"
